B is for Boston

You know, If I ever have children, and my first is a son, he will be named Boston Allen. I just love this city. I guess the sentimental mood is a result of me dying to travel somewhere. Like dying. I first went to Boston to meet a guy, and I have to thank him for that, because otherwise I would have never fallen in love with this beautiful place. Obviously it didn't work out with this guy, but I had the best time, and zero regrets. This was October 2004, at the same time the Red Sox won the world series. It was amazing, the city was full of joy. Bostonians are very loyal people, I more then appreciate this. Over the next couple years, I went there two more times. I saw Dave& Tim at the citi theatre, and at UMass. How perfect is this? I rode a cab after Yankee Johnny Damon got out. I went to Cheers, Faneuial hall, famous graves, the old State building, I got to do so much, and I miss it. I prefer Boston to NYC. People are friendlier, its a good walking city, public transportation is understandable, the history is amazing. I guess I could go on forever. I hope one day soon to return, with someone I love preferably. It would be nice to share that passion.

Lovely Dame

Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor
1932-2011
Did you know Elizabeth was born with violet eyes and had double upper eyelashes ? How rarely beautiful. No wonder she had seven husbands!! She was born outside of London, and into Christian Science. MGM signed her in 1943 at $100 a week! What touched me the most about her, is the humanitarian she was. Of course society chose to focus on her number of marriages rather then the amazing work she did. She was an Israeli activist all her life, which is said to be why she converted to Judaism at age 27. Elizabeth Taylor co-founded the American Foundation for AIDS research, and this was her true passion. She hosted the first AIDS fundraiser in 1984, and over 30 years has raised over $100 million to all aspects of the disease. After hurricane Katrina, she donated $40,000 to help those with aids in the community.
It may be silly, but I think she is in heaven with her dear friend Michael Jackson.

Here is to the most beautiful, feminine, compassionate woman in the world.

I met my girl!

I can't even believe it. It was super super fast, you didn't have time to say anything. It was a bottle signing, at stater brothers. Random. I stood in line for about 3 hours!!!Luckily the last hour I ran into a friend, so that was nice to catch up. Bethenny is beautiful in person. Very petite, she must weigh 90lbs max. I thought great, I am gonna look huge in a photo. Well i got low , as she was sitting, and this is one of my favorite pictures ever!!!! I love her!! Maybe one day, I'll actually get to speak with her. I had her sign my people magazine, and will most likely frame. I made her daughter Bryn this headband, and gave that to her. Bethenny is such an inspiration for me. She had a really tough upbringing, and has turned herself into a mega business woman, fit & attractive, wonderful wife & mother, and hilarious. Embraced for being crazy and to the point, half of what she says I could see coming from my mouth. She is pro therapy, which every knows is my mantra. Most of all she gives me hope that even though I am almost 30, there is a chance I will find an amazing man that loves me for me. That I wont have to settle, for a man who physically isn't my type, cheats on his wife, is a pot head or alcoholic, insanely insecure or cheap. She really shows me there is light at the end of the tunnel, for a happy family. A family of MY own. The way I want to do it. Honestly, no one has ever inspired me this way. It's an emotional subject.
Thank you Bethenny.

I LOVE peach cobbler!

I decided to make some this morning. I did not follow a specific recipe, but this is my first time using Trader Joes Multi-grain pancake and baking mix. Here's how I did it:
2 cups of the baking mix
2 eggs
2 tablespoons of oil
1/2 cup of sugar
2 tablespoons of melted margarine
3 cans of sliced peaches, used the syrup as well.
I mixed it all together, and baked at 350 for probably 30 minutes. I think it would turn out ok without the animal products too, but I am guessing there are probably yummy vegan cobbler recipes out there.....
My favorite part of peach cobbler, is really the breading part, its all moist and peachy. I personally don't even need to eat the actual peaches. It looked kind of pretty too!

A good friend is hard to find

Oh, how I long for the friendship these girls have. Maybe it doesn't exist in real life. Not sure. This girl was cable deprived for years, and even now HBO isn't in the budget. However I have been watching Sex in the City reruns, lately. These women are forever loyal to each other, nothing stands between them, not men, kids, disagreements, nothing. They are intelligent independent women, that I am so envious of. Last night I was watching what I think was the final episodes. Big went to the girls in attempt to get Carrie back. He told them "she is in love with you girls", I got teary eyed. In my experience men here aren't really fond of strong independent women. They especially don't want you to be their girlfriend/wife's best friend. I truly believe this is what deteriorated a couple of my past friendships, ones I thought would last forever. My heart still breaks for some of these situations. I still believe, the strong, straight forward, witty woman is not shamed to death on the east coast. Like it is here.
But if the while I think on thee, dear friend,
All losses are restored and sorrows end.

Pretty little orange

I'm not big on wearing color, we know this. I would wear all black daily, and be totally content. There are a lot of things in color I am fond of. Lovin' this orange pallet! I've been eating a ton of oranges too, oh and I bought the pre-cut cantaloupe from whole foods, amazing!

French Macaroons

The only thing I enjoy about this cookie, is the way it looks. Seriously gag me! After watching a ton of DC cupcakes, I was dying for one. I went to Dolys Delectables, in Long Beach. There was only white cupcakes, so I had to pass. I am a major chocolate girl! So I decided to try these cookies, for the first time. I purchased a red velvet and tiramisu @ $1.50 each. The texture was terrible, you can barely even taste a difference in flavor, because this horrible taste just takes over your mouth. Kind of like plastic, almost like i was eating the refrigerated display case they were in. This yucky taste lingered in my mouth forever! I am seriously a huge treat/desert person, especially "carby sweets" and I really would not recommend this cookie. I also adore anything tiramisu, except this. It could just be the place, but I will never willingly pay for one of these French Macaroons again!

Vintage bedding

I pretty much adore anything vintage, but especially bedding, fabrics, tapestries, and textiles. If you are determined you can find a lot of it at thrift stores, instead of pricey vintage shops. I recently found these pillow cases, for $1.99 at the Goodwill, and just love them! I have some other things I haven't photoed, and a ton of vintage hankies ( that i use).

These I love from Ebay:
